with my friend Mike. He's looking at Mesa Mark V, Marshall JVM210, maybe a few others. I'll be doing the picking he'll be turning the knobs. He's bring his old Mesa (1X12 FT50 or FS50 something?) with him for trade in. Should be a blast...

Mike traded his F30 Mesa, and bought a JVM210H head and a 1936 cabinet (2 X 12) Difference 1700. It sounded great at the store and at home :D 6 different gain settings - 3 on clean 3 on overdrive . I found the gain was less noticeable on the clean channel with the SG as on the Strat - more on the Strat. Different pickups react differently but I would have thought it would be the opposite. The record out is an XLR and it sounds....really good, and not fizzy on OD which is a problem with my JCM900. I still say mic`d is best but this may be useable for recording (so as not to bother the wife lol). Anyway, I love the sound and would recommend one of these if you like Marshall. If mine ever dies I will buy one of these (or a 410H).

I was about to jump in and say how much I like my Mark V but that's a good amp too. Hope he has fun with it.

He was pretty much sold on the JVM before we got there - and once he found out he couldn't silent record from the Mesa he didn't even bother trying it out.

The JVM's are awesome. The 410 is like 12 amps in one.
Yep - the 210H has 6 gain settings. It took us while to set the levels so that they were equal and figure out the dual master etc etc etc... After playing with it I don't know if I would bother with the 410H as the 210H seems to have enough variety for me with the 6 settings. I would probably never use half the other ones anyway.
The 210H has the exact same sound(s) as my JCM900 plus a bunch more high gain stuff which I usually use an OD patch/pedal for.

I've only fiddled with the 410, but yeah, it can be a pain to get all the channels matching and sounding good as you jump from one to the other. You need like an engineering degree to work that amp. :D
