im thinking of buying a mo phat keyboard or module but it says that its not gm compatible. what does this mean and what kind of problems will it give me? thanxxxx

GM just refers to having the patches in a certain order. Pianos at patches xx, basses at xx, etc.
The main purpose of GM is so that you can put in a generic GM midi file and have the appropriate instruments doing the playback. It's not a big deal for doing your own music.
