i love negative rep
given a finite amount of 703 (or whatever) is it better to have less, but thicker traps?
or more but thinner traps?

thankx all.

That depends entirely on the kind of accoustic challenges the room has.

However I can say that since you can't absorb more than 100 percent the benefit per thickness drops off after four inches.

You most likely will have to buy a whole bale (24 inches total thickness). What I do is buy 24 one-inch thick panels and then experiment. For example you might have four four-inch panels in corners as bass traps and four two-inch panels offset on the parallel walls to control slap echoes.

4" thick is a good standard for your Bass traps and more of your mid range will be captured by your thinner traps say 2". However if you have 2" thick panels with a 1" air gap behind the panel you can capture some mids of your bass frequencies.

Remember your Bass congregates in all corners, vertical and horizontal!

so thicker in the corners, and thinner on the walls?

thanks both, and gorty love the sig.
