Well, all my recording equipment is over at a friends house.. and I just had to find something to do..
So, yesterday I borrowed a little 8 channel behringer mixer + a sm58, fired up a fat one and this was the result.. hehe.. tell me what you think! I don't even dare to guess what genre it is.. :)

guitar: landola acoustic

bass: cheap 4-string aria thing with old strings and a serious need for intonation (when the E string is tuned to E, the 12'th fret is E# !)

drums: fruity

+ lots of plugins

I think the guitar sounds great, and I really dig this tune. But, "personally", I don't like the sound of the bass and the way it was played. But, again, it's just my taste.

I am now amazed how good fruity loops can sound. Did you use the samples that came with the program or you got them somewhere else?

Not too shabby. Sometimes less is more! Good buzz tune, gonna have to add it to my collection.

very sweet

this is what you did without your good equipment? skills mate.

I think there is loads goin on and the guitars are really well played as well as recorded. The sound quality is crystal clear. How do you chaps do that? I want to be able to make sounds like that but how? Give me some advice mate and post some tunes that you recorded on your other equipment. I am very impressed, very jealous and very eager to learn those computer tricks.

The bass line is nice but a bit loud at points. the vocals sound like Stone Roses. I love the reversed built up cymbals etc. Dam I want to make good rythem backing tracks!! Show me the way soemone, I am downloading a free fruity loops demo. Do I need a keyboard to make all those background noises etc.

Hey! Thanks for the kind words..

Part of the problem is that I was monitoring with 2$ earplugs.. :)

Some of the other probs are that I am a really below average bass-player, plus the fact that I sound like a strangled cat when singing. :)

Luckily I am a synthplayer/programmer in my band.

Would love to post some of the other stuff, but it's all currently on the machine were using over at my friends house. (together with all my other equipment)

"I love the reversed built up cymbals etc."

Actually, that's a reversed guitar strum.. gives kinda the same effect, just prettier :)
The background fx was just my voice through some filters.

About the fruity questions.. I just used the stock samples and eq'ed them a little to make them sound a little more diverse.. I find I am using fruityloops more and more, It's really a great analog style sequencer. The thing I love most about it is that it runs fast even on the crap-o-matic computer I'm running here right now.. :)

PC,
Great song. I didn't care so much for the part starting at :36 but for something you just smacked together its really wonderful. Also really cool that you used cheap gear to get good sounds. Touché Behringer bashers. The guitar sounds great especially with the drum loop. Love the part at 2:37 wish it was a bit longer. What sound card/ interface did you use?

Thanks man:)

I just used the sb live card that's installed on this machine, sounds ok for a cheap card I recon..
