I've just got a gina soundcard (for free!) and was wondering what type of pc i need to run/use it.i'm new to recording with computers so any advice would be a great help.i would prefer a laptop if you know any.thanx,
Paul

The more PC you have, the higher the track counts you can get. I ran one on a 400MHz PII, 256 MEGs of RAM years ago with not too much problem. Real time plug ins were a No No though. A decent PIII at least with 512 MEGs of RAM will function nicely.

you can get amd systems (sempron) for 440 bucks where i am.
eg... canadasys.com one of hundreds ofdealers.
will do 40 tracks easily. try and use 8mb cache hard drive if possible.
if you dont have a pc and intend buying one test out the gina at the pc dealer store before buying the pc to ensure all works ok before laying out the cash for the pc.
a p3 will do the job. but new systems are so cheap. no point imho.
if getting a new system overspec the power supply. some clone power supplies dont meet rated spec. thus potential for probs.

is it a gina24 or a gina 3G? either way, they are PCI cards so it will be tough to get them to work on a lap top (i'm not sure if you even can do that). Maybe with an adaptor to PCIMCIA or something.
