gina or layla??

I have been using 3 darla 24 cards for a number of years now, but the latency I am getting monitoring input is prompting me to upgrade.

I think i want to stay with Echo Audio since their products have served me well so far.

so now:
gina 3g or layla 3g that is the question.

i understand the price difference and break out box size difference, but after reading the specs the only functional differences i see are that layla has:

** analog input **
6 balanced TSRs
a slightly better dynamic range
nominal input level selector

** analog output **
8 balanced TSRs (gina has 6)

** dimensions **
rack mountable

** digital sync **
world clock in/out

other than that.. are the two devices are the same? is that the experience of you guys out there?

does anybody recommend another manufacturer as clearly better in the same price ranges?

Layla 3g...in reality, that's 8 trs, not six...6 on the back, 2 universal on the front. The two on the front can be used as mic or line pres.

I use 3 Layla 3gs on one pc and 3 Layla 24's on another. I use several Ai3's with each setup, giving me 48 analog i/o on each pc. All word clocked together and master controlled from MOTU master clock for sync.

My Echo systems have worked flawlessly for years, including the new 3g additions.

It seems that it basically gets down to what kind of i/o you need and what potential expansion you might or might not be headed for. Gina has only 2 ins and 6 outs...no word clock. Layla 3g has 8 in-8 out, and wordclock i/o. For sync'ing multiple pieces in and out of the Echo brand, that word clock would be pretty vital imo.

I know that you want to stick with Echo, but you should definitely have an open mind about other interfaces out there. I have been liking the firepod ever since i got it and I have had zero problems. Check into it, and if it fits into your budget and does what you want it to do, i would strongly recommend that you at least consider it as an option.
