My band is considering buying a Gigrac powered mixer for live shows in bars, either the 300 watt or the 600 watt. Does anyone have experience or opinions about this line of powered mixers? Any limitations? Can it push two 12" mains and two monitors at the same time? Anything else to say?
Thanks

All I can say is this. I much prefer a non-powered mixer and an amp or powered speakers. With a powered mixer you save a little, but it is far less versital. with seperate components you can upgrade any part you wish or use them for seperate purposes amps & and mixers can be used for lots of applications. A powered mixer can be used for what you now want it for and that's about it.

On the up side. It's convieniant and cheaper. If you go this way get the 600. it's always better to have too much power than too little.

Sorry I have not used a gigrac unit:(

You may want to look around used, powered mixers usually go pretty cheap.
There's lots of more known brands like yamaha and bi-amp out there used most of the time.

Good luck
