Has anybody played one? MF has 'em on sale for $999 with hsc....down from $1599 street. Seems almost too good to be true. Or is it kind of crappy like the 'faded' SG special?

I've already got a '69 ES 150D and don't really need it, but hey, a blonde jazzer would be really nice.

I've been lusting after this one too. Saw one in Mars the other day, but I was getting something else and I didn't have time to pick it up. Then the next time I went back it was gone. From what I read most people like to replace the pick-ups with humbuckers anyway so I'm not sure why they are being blown out everywhere.

I haven't played one, but I can say that compared to the prices over here, $999 is a great deal on that guitar.

JohnWaynesTeeth,

Damn, ya shouda stopped and tried it out. Oh well, I'm going by a GC tomorrow and they likely will have one.

There's two versions; the regulay ES 135 with P90 pickups and the limited with '57 humbuckers.

Harmony Central's reviews seem to be positive (except for some getting guitars with woodchips in the case).

The ES-135s that I have personally seen have what I consider to be objectionably fat necks. Other people have commented on this, too.

Hmmm, maybe that's just what I'm looking for. I'm from an acoustic guitar backround and am more comfortable with somewhat bigger necks. My ES 150D's neck is so thin it feels like I could rap my hand around it twice. I'll never get rid of it though, it belonged to one of me early guitar idols (Al Casey) for 25 years.

Well I went by GC yesterday and they don't carry new ones, they did have a used ES 135 with the regular P90 pickups. It was a little smaller and thinner than I expected and was a semi hollow body (I thought they were hollow). The neck was a bit bigger, a retro earlier '50's feel, not bad though but the action wasn't set up right. I dunno, I'm still on the fence, not used to buying new guitars I guess.
