Hi everyone. I am a longtime lurker and infrequent poster, but I have a problem that is driving me up the wall. Here is my system, for starters...

P4 2.4, 512 RAM
Aardvark Q10
TASCAM US-122
Samplitude Classic 7.12

I got the US-122 to do some mobile stuff, and I figured I'd combine it with the Q10 to get a couple more inputs.

I knew I'd have a latency problem, so I used the 2 of the US-122 inputs on toms and mute the playback, and I planned on going back and manually comensating for latency. (I understand this is a little trailerpark, but it works. By the way, if there is a better way to do this, let a brother know.)

This plan seems to work fine BUT... (there's always a but)...when I do it, my overheads are delayed as well!!! So I have to compensate for them all of a sudden. I DON'T GET IT!!! What do my tom mics going in through the US-122 have anything to do with my overheads going coming in on the Q10?

I have the overheads on inputs 1 and 2, which are the phantom powered pres. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but I'm at a loss.

Oh yeah, I would have switched out snake channels to see if it is the inputs or the mics, but it got late and my house has quiet time after 11pm.

Somebody help, I am going insane!!!

that would be bleed though right?... your tom mics arn't totally isoated from overheads so if you shift the toms then you shift a little(or a lot) of the cymbols

I don't think it's bleed. Here's why...

When I shift the overheads to compensate, everything is back to normal.

Unless I am missing something, which is entirely possible. Likely, even. ;)

HELP!!!

If you are recording through two different cards at the same time without a way to sync them up you will have sync problems. It's not latency. The tracks are actually being recorded at slightly different speeds and during playback they will drift apart. You can only record through one of the cards at a time.
