I have a Digi01 running on 6.1. A friend of mine recently gave me Gigastudio for my birthday. Are the 2 programs compatable with each other. Can I use Gigastudio to create the sounds while recording them through protools? or do I have to record them through Gigastudio and than dump them in ProTools.

I have a soundblaster sound card and gigastudio is not compatable with it.

also....

does anyone know if it's possible to use the Protools card as my only sound card? can i use my speakers that are hooked up to the Digi01 as speakers for my general computer sound?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Not sure about Gigastudio. I know the Digi 001 will work as an ASIO device, but I don't think Gigastudio can plug directly into Pro Tools. I doubt the 001 is GSIF-compatible, which is Gigastudio's proprietary driver system.

You can't really use the 001 for your system sound card. It won't play back sounds that are below 44.1 k, so it will choke or toss out annoying errors on a lot of Windows events. Just leave the soundblaster in there.

thanks.

time for a new soundcard then....gigastudio isn't compatable with soundblaster

Yeah i was in the same situation.
But I have a MAC and PC.
I bought a Terratec EWS 88D for my PC and I have the 001 for my Mac.
I would REALLY recommend the EWS 88D for your gigastudio rig.
It has optical out, so you can send 8 channels of audio to your 001 card optical in.

If you are interested in more info on my setup, let me know i'll answer any questions you have.
