Getting rid of specific room resonance

There's a pitch that rings a bit in my new control room (which otherwise is sounding good), a mid bass pitch. How can I make a Helmholz resonator tuned to that pitch to get rid of it? I've got a few bass traps, I'm going to make more, but i don't know if that will solve the problem.

Will a helmholz resonator fix this problem for me?

I would need to know more about your room as to where the ping is coming from.
Got a drawing??

Cheers

What kind of bass traps do you have?

I'm not a fan of Helmholtz traps because they are narrow. You really need to trap all low frequencies, not just the one or two that correspond to the room dimensions.

Hi Ethan

I've made a couple of your design, a low bass and a mid bass, along with high absorbers across the front third of the room. I'm planning on making a couple more for the control room and the main room (which has 2 pair so far).

jonothon,

Yeah, it takes more than two traps to do much. It's really a matter of covering a large enough percentage of the room's surface area. If you just build more of those panel traps your remaining problems will go away.
