I like the song.
Great guitar sound.
The drums *sound* good, but are possibly too simple. I want to hear some toms and fills..
.... but loose that shaker thing thats happening...
Lastly the vocals are strong, well positioned , though run flat sometimes...

Overall, good job, good mix.

You have some good ideas here - particulary in terms of production and how it relates to form. I like how the distorted guitar becomes more prominent in the choruses and lays back for the verses. You add a sense of tension and releas with the seventh chords and the tambourine heading into the chorus. The melody is pretty fair, in a laid-back sort of way. Very singable, though, which is good. The lyrics make a good first impression, too.

There are some tuning issues here. The vocals (lead and backing) often drop flat - but you did say this was a quick recording. Unless it is your singer's style to slur words, or if it s a desired effect for the song, I would suggest trying to have the singer articulate some of the lyrics more cleanly as well. I'm also hearing something peculiar in the guitars, but only in places.... not sure what it is, though. A G-string out of tune, perhaps?? Most of my uncertainty here comes from the fact that it doesn't seem to happen all the time. Did you patch a few takes together, with one of those takes having a string out of tune?

I'm wondering, too, if there is something you can do to add interest to the production in terms of "sonic landscape." You have pretty much the same panning, sounds, etc. all through the song. Not really any ideas here myself, but one of those things that are easier to criticise than they are to implement your self. :) I'm sure others will be able to help you more on this one.

Keep at it!
Chris

the things that bother me the most are the out of tune guitars...(not in a rolling stones way either;) ), and the vocal delivery. It sounds kinda "lazy" sounding...and the combination of the two problems mentioned here add to a lot. Nice tune, very comfortable in a nice kind of way, musically....but dang it...out of tune guitars RECORDED are just a reminder that you slacked in that area before the "red light" went on in the studio.

The tamborine is a good effort to "add' to the production, but I think it is in the wrong "frenquency" and only catches your attention more than fill a role. An organ sound might go much better. ...yeah...I'd like that. A nice B3 patch...with Leslie, of course.

I'll slap ya too for not being quiet as the last note fades too!!!! shame, shame, shame...:D :D

i think we not only need to retune the guitars, but re string them as well.........it seems as like every time they were tuned up, it was two chords in and they were out already.......who can keep a g-string in tune anyway?

I like the production,I'd say just speed it up a little.
