Hello all,
I need to know what all you Tascamers out there think of the 424 MKIII....... As I am looking towards getting myself some new gear, possibly used from E-bay, but new to me nonetheless!!! :) I need any and all feedback you folks care to give, as I have owned the Porta07 years ago, didnt have it long enough to really work it well, and just recently had the Fostex FD-8...... I've been wanting to just get a really nice little 4-track and start over, kinda simplify my approach and everything else...... Really want the analog sound and easy portability that most 4-tracks offer, so gimme what ya got!!!! Thanks as always........ Little Z (Steve)

Looks like I've hopped on all your posts!

The 424mkIII is a nice machine. Obviously, it's the top-of-the-line cassette Portastudio, currently available new. I don't think there's anything bad to say about the 424mkIII. It's a great machine. I have one.

The 424mkII is also a great machine, one of my favs. The mkII cannot be purchased new, only used. Still, it's a great machine. I own two.

Then, when you get into the larger used market for Tascam, it's pretty wide open, with lots of great, vintage designs out there.

Briefly, my favorites are the PortaOne, 234, 244, 246, 388, 38, M30, and all the other 30 series reel decks, [not necessarily in that order].

Good luck, choosing.
