Hi all, first post here.

I've been using a Blue Yeti mic with Audacity every few months, and for the first time I'm getting some metallic-sounding voiceover. Can somebody help? I have gain set to about 60% on the mic, Project rate is 48kHz. I have the microphone set to upside-down heart (forgot term) and can't seem to improve it without turning the mic input on audacity waaaay down, which flattens out the audio peaks to nearly flat.

Unedited clip attached.

(A) You're recording WAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY too hot. You should be looking at peaks at maybe -10dBFS *maximum* (IMO/E, especially with "all-in-one" budget-friendly stuff).

(B) Otherwise, doesn't sound unusual here -- Possibly a very mild bit of comb-filtering (most likely the space, but could be other things).

[EDIT] I should probably read the whole post first...

It wouldn't be flat - it would be normal. You can always zoom in vertically if you want, but I'd highly suggest not using your eyes as much as your ears. And if you're finding that the mic sounds better at normal input levels, you've solved your own problem already.

Thank you! Way too hot = too loud and close to the mic, correct?

Get as close as you want most likely - The preamp level needs to come down.
