I have the following equipment:
Yamaha MT-4X
Fender MexiStrat
Fender Jam Amp
Boss Metal Distortion Pedal
For the best sound with this set up, what cords should I run where?

Not knowing anything really about my equipment---
My amp has an effects loop that has a poweramp in and a preamp out. I don't understand how I should incorporate this into recording. Do I plug into my Main Input and run a cord from preamp out to the track input.
Should I just run a cord from guitar to effects pedal to 4 track...I am very confused and I appreciate any help from those that are experienced.

MICS !

I use a pod for direct recording, but if you don't have something like that, you would be better off micing the amp. The preamp out could also be used but will not sound as good. But, it does not hurt to experiment.

Just 4 gt???

Well if you are using it just to record guitar u can make a loop putting your4track as an fx processor in your amp fx loop... this way when u ear what u recorded it will sound right(u must always ear it in your amp)! Just plug the preamp out to the 4track and the 4track out to the power amp in and if it has a fx mix control available turn it all the way up! This way the recorded guitar will have your amplifier pré amp "sound" on but will lack the power amp and cabinet sound... just hit play and it will pass through that so it will be pretty close to original(couse of tape degradation)! Hope this helps :) Check out the Sound PlayGround at :http://www.angelfire.com/extreme/SoUnDMasTerZ
