I haven't written or recorded anything in a while. But, that changed today. What started out as just a jam, turned into the makings of a song. I've recorded all of the guitars, bass, and drums that will be in the finished song. I decided to leave the synth and excessive signal processing behind to get a more natural sound. I hope I have achieved that. Vocals will have to wait because I broke my stupid shock mount to my microphone the other day and now it's pretty useless. This is what I have so far.

Thank you for your time.

The the drums sounded pretty good(although I'd prefer a little less room sound). The only problem was the cymbals had a very prominent high end sizzle. I'd look to kill that frequency or dial back the cymbals a bit. The guitars were a bit too weak. They need to be more prominent without compromising the drums. Besides that it sounded good.

Hey, I think it sounds good. Was a bit long without vocals but I like the sound of it a lot, especially enjoyed the guitar at 1:13, sounded a bit creepy hiding in there, nice touch. Look forward to hearing with vocals. I always record vocals without a shock mount, should try one some day I guess. :)

Maybe a bit too much difference between the bass and the opening guitars? I mean, the bass sounds a little too much and the guitars sound a little too little. The first thing I'd try is turning the bass down a dB so there's more of a 'feel it rather than hear it' approach, and EQ'ing those opening gits to have a bit more body. But this one really needs a vocal, because it's too repetitive as it is, and if you add a vocal, then that opening guitar might sit right.

Yeah, get another shock mount. At one point, I tried those foam footies that you put on the mic stand legs. Absolutely useless. Just fat, finicky and in the way.
