This is some info I got today from Genelec in case someone wants to soffit mount their nearfields.

Here are the recommended maximum listening distances based on dispersion and acoustic output for stereo environments. For Multichannel multiply by 1.33

1029A...5 feet
1030A...6 feet
1031A...7 feet
1032A...8 feet

If you decide to soffit mount the products you will need to allow for heat dissipation. This means creating a couple of 2 inch holes (one at the bottom of the soffit and one at the top) to allow for free air passage.

nah, I'll just save up for the 1035b

nice info, thanks, I'll keep it somewhere. What would he mean with the holes, at the bottom or at the bottom of the back ? (my guess is the second).

Would you happen to have any dip-switch settings ?

oooohhh...You should just go all the way then and get the 1036A's :-) .

Yeap I think all the electronics for the monitor is on the back so it would make sense to dissipate heat on the back top and bottom....and no I don't have any dip-switch settings.

The amp section is removeable and you can get an extension lead to mount the amp elsewhere. In left Bank I mounted them below the speakers.
