ok... I wanna do this, but I cant figure out a practical way to do it... unless someone out htere knew of or could write a little converter program that did it...

anywat, I want to be able to jump back and forth from Vegas to CoolEditPro during a multitrack project.

The problem is that the "session" files.. the little ones that remember your volume and pan envelopes and other settings... they aren't compatible. But it SEEMS to me that it would be easy enough to translate one to the next... but I have NO idea how to do it.

any geniuses out there?

The two file types are proprietary formats and getting detailed specs will probably be impossible for the reason c7sus mentioned. Even with the specs I wonder if the different implementations would translate very well, if at all.

but they arent really different implementations....theres volume envelopes... pan enveloped... track pan, volume, device settings and names... track placement... so on and on.
Coulnt one just look at the file... then change one setting... and see what changes... and find out what everything is... and convert?

xoxo

ps... I cant read code... so I dont know what Im talking about...;)

No MP3 is going to provide CD quality audio from a data standpoint, it's a simple fact. Some of the techniques used by MP3 encoders are lossy, which means some audio data is just tossed out in the encoding process. That lost data cannot be recovered from the resulting MP3 file. The goal of MP3 is to sound the same to our ears but with a much smaller file. He's especially full of shit saying 128kbps is the highest quality. Just smile and nod, you can't tell guys like that anything.

hes an idiot.

vegas session file... 14k
CEP session file..4k (no plug ins....)

Whoa... are those two projects even remotely similar? That's a huge size difference, dude!

C7us - I second the motion that the guy you were talking to is an idiot, or drunk, or smoking crack, or all three.

They are very similar... the same song. Same traks..different settings, tho.

CEP doesnt support plug in effects... wheras Vegas does. The extra 10k is from half a dozen plug in settings... and Vegas is a bit more Bloated a program than CEP...

BUT similarieties exist!

Couldnt the translator ingnore unduplicated values or enter 0s or something?
