Oldbie
I have a conundrum, and want to solicit some advice from other guitar "collectors" like myself.
Here's the situation:
I need a synth access guitar. I found a used Godin LGX-SA, and have tried it out - it is AMAZING ! I want it.
Here's the specs:

Problem is, (as we all know), the money just isn't there for this purchase.

My options are as follows:
1. Sell my '53 ES125 out from under my friend who sold it to me 10 years ago with the understanding that he would be the first to get it back (but he has no money at this time).
2. Wait till he has the money (guitar might be gone...)
3. Buy the LGX, wait till I get the money from the ES125 (who knows how long that will be...).
4. Sell my pride and joy - Ibanez GB100 (trade in value is what I paid for it, worth about $500 more than that). But I can make this LGX sound just like it - even more tonal possibilities - and it doesn't feed back.
5. Buy the LGX anyway, and never have sexual relations with my wife again (or at least for a looooong time). This may be lessened if I buy HER something, though.

Personally, I'm leaning towards option #3, but #4 and #5 are running a close second (...I got the gearhead blues).

I know you all have been through similar situations - what have you done ? I'm jonesing here guys - I need a synth fix !!!

Whew ! It feels better just talking about it....

Mike

How much is that going for? And what does that guitar NOT have?? I don't think I've ever seen a guitar loaded with electric, acoustic, AND synth pickups. I can feel your pain.

Luckily, I am not married so it would be an easy choice for me!

Good luck,
H2H

H2H,
Asking price is CAD$1275, so what's that in US$, about a buck and a half ?

No, about $ 825 U.S. - a sweet deal IMHO.

Actually, just bought wifey some garden stuff, so she's softening...

Option #3 is sounding better all the time. I gotta get rid of that guitar - it's too nice to have someone not playing it (but it loooks so coool...)

I don't think the fallout would be too bad (or too long) - although I just remembered tomorrow is our anniversaire - HEY ! Maybe it can be a GIFT ! There's an option...
(as long as she doesn't wake me up in the middle of the night with one of those gloves you were talking about, c7sus, saying "Here's your real GIFT, honey...")

Sell the Ibanez and don't look back.

Look; it'll be good for you to do that. My guitar is my pride and joy. Before that, my old guitar was my pride and joy - for 25 years. Now I've loaned it to an 8th grader who'se trying to learn like I did.

I had to be able to look past the history to realize that, after all the dust settles ("vintage" and all), it's a tool of the trade.

Musta been a senior moment. Make that "who's" a couple of posts back. Hate it when I do that.

Treeline - Sometimes I think I'm affected too - I thought *who'se" was the pronoun for "you'se"....

Thanks, all, for your advice - I think I'll buy it and sell both the Ibanez and the ES125 - then I'll have some money for recording gear.

...and the cycle begins again...

mike

I bought it !!!!!
It rocks f$#%ing ass, as my buddy playing it right now can attest to. Now I guess I'll have to post something in the MP3 forum.

CYA later,

Mike

P.S. I got the rubber gloves, just in case....

Here's a pic !

Who wants an Ibanez GB100, Martin Backpacker or '53 ES125....

Auction off the wife on ebay to the highest bidder and buy a WHOLE NEW RIG!

That's priceless.

How much are decent wives going for these days? I've got a stock '67 that's had only one owner.

Congrats on the purchase.

Damn.

Now I want one.

I gotta stock up on toys quick before I get married. :)
