Anyone go today. I did. Nothin' jumped out at me as a really great bargain. Prices seemed all around pretty high. I've scored some excellent deals at these things in the past, but not today.

Damn thats today? I probably missed all the good stuff. I'll be back.

i was planning on buying a d6 anyways so i went to see if they could go any lower than normal(164 after tax) they couldnt so i just bought it for that

Tbone, next time you get ready to purchase a mic, check out Music alley
in Birmingham. Those guys will cut you a good deal and they have the best
selection I,ve seen around these parts.Well worth the drive from Montgom-
ery.I picked up a matched pair of MXL 603's with flight case, shockmounts,
out the door for $180.00.

The store manager called me and reminded me to be there early, and I reminded him that the commisioned GC whores give me cost on everything anyway, so why should I be there early?

He didn't really have an answer for that, but he's still new.

:D :D :D

For real, it seems like all it takes is a stern look and you'll have your discount. I had the pro audio manager argue prices with me but I won. I win every time there and never never never pay full price. I also love talking over the heads of most of the morons working there. I bought a cheap plug once from there when I was still a little new and I asked the guy is it OSX and RTAS compatable. His answer was "Yeah it's VST compatable." So I had to restate my question as, will this work with pro tools le. He had to ask someone else. Other than that I love guitar center.

The last time I was at a local place (not a GC), I was looking at some VHT's and some other 'bou tee kee' stuff... some I haven't know or heard yet. I thought I was going to enjoy and try playing a few new ones- maybe even a purchase. That, of course, was when I discovered "pound for pound the best sounding one they had" I thought I was going to snorkel :) until he schooled me:::::

The Ibanez half stack

After I stopped snorkeling, I tried to fire across a jizz bomb in his eye for being such a cheezeball. I just said that I thought it 'wasn't quite my style', and called my buddy that worked over at GC.

Then the tech from GC (on my way back to my buddy's counter) explained that the intonation for my Tele wasn't because he was a blowhard and didn't know how to set up a guitar. Instead he explained that it was because of the magnetic pull in the pickups. Not yet into the Lace Sensor discussion, I asked him why all the other guitars with all the other strings that had all the other pickups that had all the other magnets also made everyone elses magents in all their guitars sounded like shit for my payment of a setup...

There are just so many places I can deal with guys like that. Fortunately, I have a friend who happens to be at GC- otherwise it would be a VERY long day...

Whatever the fuck this story means :)

The best scores I ever got was when GC bought out Rhythm City and then American Music and had tent sales. They were giving shit away. You could walk out with a full PA for under $100. I even bought stuff I wouldnt ever use, but it was such a steal, I couldnt pass it up. Then I traded that in at the used gear place for at least 3xs what I paid for it ( and got the shit I needed).

Do you need me to explain it slower next time? Or do you just wanna eat my ass now?

I remember when Rythym Shitty went belly over- good ol' George. When Mars in VA Beach went down, I got my second coming and had a frenzy :)

I went to both of our stores in St. Louis. I got:
1. a nice Korg Pandora for $60 (PX-4B?). It was marked as a demo, but it didn't appear to be ever taken out of the box.

2. A packaged set of two Chinese condensor mics (one large diaphram and one small) and a case for $99 (XL or something) at the Bridgeton store. They had sets of CAD (two small and one large) for the same price. Not all stores are equal.

3. A tweed electric case for $20.

4. Two Rolls DI boxes for $20 each.

and a few other things I needed.

I'm pretty much set on everything I need, but it seems like they had decent "List" deals as usuall as I walked around. One thing I have noticed in the last couple of years is that they don't hang on to their used stuff and sell it on List days. I've been getting excellent deals (below cost, etc.) on the used stuff throughout the year - so that's a big plus in my mind.

We're lucky to have two "good" GC's in town. They have enough experienced people at each one to make up for the knuckleheads.
