GC's Nationwide Sale

So, how did everyone fare the BIG nationwide GC sale? Any great deals? I landed an Avalon M5 MIc pre for $699. This sounds wonderful and is a great partner for the U5 I got last month for $399. Total $1100 for both is a great value.

There is a Distressor that will go on sale for the same $699. I am scraping up the $$$ now, but may not make it.

BIG sale?? I didn't know there was one - which is probably a good thing, since I'd have been temped to spend money I don't have...

I got back $102.68 at their big sale, because I was still within 30 days of my preamp purchase. I was pretty happy about that! They didn't have anything else there that I wanted, so I spent that "refund" somewhere else...

Holy shit those are INCREDIBLE prices.... If you can direct me to where I can buy or order a pair of Distressors for that price I'll go pawn my Great River for a few weeks and skip a car payment.
Let me know what you find out, I am truly serious.
Thats a better-than-very-used price on the M5 too, thats incredible.
I wish we had one here now.
Anyway, let me know on those Distressors, if not, I want an M5.

I don't quite know. I deal with a guy that used to work for Fletcher. He called ME and told me about it. It was in the box (new) as far as I could tell. The distressor IS a demo and I might buy it. I don't know yet as the store has not given the final OK. My sales buddy said it would be the same price as the Avalon gose for the same price as the distressor. I will see.

They should. I tossed that price out as a joke. My salesguy checked the computer and said he could do it. I think with tax, it was $421.00. You HAVE to beat the guy up for that price. I KNOW they can do it because I did it on a dead-new-sealed-in-the-box unit. The salesguy I use (there is another one who is almost as good) KNOWS that I am a hard liner and expects that I will never pay full-pop. But, they also know that I put-up after the bargaining is over. The Avalon U5 was never on sale, I just beat-them-down on the price.

That is really ridiculous. Even at $899 thats a fine deal. Why are they blowing them out? I didnt even know that crappy store carried Distressors...hmphh

is that at all guitar centers? is there some way i can tell the guitar center by me that another one is selling for 699??....i would of got one yesterday for 699

what guitar center is this too? i'ma haveta use all my persuasive skills to try and get close to that price...

No. Each GC is different. The M5 I got turned out to be a demo unit that was never put into a rack. The box was opened and the literature was taken out along with the power cord (AC). It was never used, but not "new". You have to forge a relationship with someone who is good to find these deals. I always look everywhere in every rack and every dark corner of the store to find these gems. Most of the "goodies" are hidden either behind the racks, or in the backroom. It is my job to "ferret" out the info and tag-and-bag it.

Sure, I go to the N. Attleboro store in Mass. Great store (not) except for one salesguy.
