OK so what exactly is gating. I think it has something to do with stoping bleed. Does anybody have some links to somewhere that explains what gating is and how to use it? Thanks a lot!

the difference between a gate and an expander is simply ratio, by reducing the noise floor they also expand the dynamic range.
There's also some very cool things you can do with a gate using it's sidechain, key input.
