I've been using Garageband for a few months now with no problems. I'm working on this one project and all of a sudden, when I went to listen to it, an error popped up saying that I have too many tracks to run in real-time.

I consulted Garageband Help: I quit all other programs, deleted all unnecessary tracks, locked all the remaining tracks, went to system preferences and unchecked the "put hard disk to sleep when possible" button, went to Garageband preferences and optimized for "maximum number of simultaneous tracks" and turned off FileVault.

I'm not running any amp simulations or anything and there's only 1 small automation curve in the whole thing. Can someone help me with this???

Do you have a lot of software instruments? Try locking some of them by clicking on the lock icon near the solo and mute buttons on each track.

No I did that. I locked all the tracks. When I tell it to play, it displays the progress bar stating that it's locking all the tracks and then starts to play it. After about 5 seconds, I get the error. :-( I appreciate your reply though. I have this same question posted in the Garageband forum on Apple's site and no one has replied anything. So, thank you for that. :-)
