Interesting that Shure does not seem to list the capsule size in the specifications. Kinda wondering if it's an SDC packaged to give an LDC appearance

I think you are correct. In the Shure online PGAlta PDF Brochure, they show 2 Condensors in that specific category, the PGA-27, that is clearly labeled as a Large Condensor Mic and the PGA-181 that is labeled as a Condensor Mic.
Some of the 4000 Series Audio-Technica Mics have diaphragms that are under 1" ie (3/4") that they label as "Large"...............
