I have two all tube amps. H&K's. I have one TC electronics G-major processor.

One amp has a Serial effect loop and sounds amazing no matter what i do with the processor.

the other amp has a Parralell effects loop and the effects sound completely crappy and hollow and distant with the same settings that i used on the other amp. The verbs are way too deep and really thins out the sound

What do i have to do to my processor to get a consistant sound out of both amps?

If it matters the G-major has no preamp, just effect that go throught the loop.

HELP !
thanks

Sorry, probably not going to be much help, consider this a gratuitous bump. I have the G-Sharp unit. It has provisions for serial and/or parallel effects loops. I tried to download the manual for your box but I couldn't open it.

There's a feature on that processor called the kill dry. You might try that.

Yeah, I did read that that feature should be turned on, and all the effects "mixes" should be on 100%.

Weird, but it still sounds different/not as good. The amp with the serial loop sounds way better.
I think they did the Parallel loop to match older vintage pedals maybe, but it still is confusing to me.

Thanks

That's strange. It sounds fine with my parallel on my Mesa.

Did you also turn up all your effect mixes to 100% ? Did you do it within each preset, or did you just do it using the parameter wheel, or both?

Basically what Im wondering is do I have to do all 3.... Turn KillDry on, Turn the effects mixes to 100% in the preset and using the parameter wheel, or do I just turn the KillDry on only?

Hope Im making sense.

thanks
Matt

I have a G-Major with parallel-loop Mesa.

The "mix" on the Mesa is at 100% - so all of the signal goes through the loop.

With that setting, you want the G-Major's "kill dry" off - because you want some dry signal to pass through the G-Major; otherwise, all you will hear is effects. Likewise, you want to dial in the "reverb mix" (or "delay mix" or any other effect) only enough to get the tone you want. If you set the reverb mix to 100%, all you will hear is the output of the digital reverb - not the dry signal from your guitar.

As an alternative, you could set the mix on the amp to 25% or so, and then run your G-Major effects mixes at 100%. I prefer not to do it this way because it gives me more programmable control within the G-Major.

I'd have to look tonight to make certain but I think I have my kill dry on. I have one of the knobs on my effects loop at 50% and one of them at 100%.

That makes sense. Thanks. I think you solved my problem, although Ill have to try it when i get home from work.
