I can see that Reaper has LOTS of built-in FX. However, I would like to find out how to get good guitar FX. It seems rather confusing trying out numerous FX when the FX name does not necessarily indicate what the FX is. This is not a complaint - I am simply trying to find a range of guitar FX in Reaper. I have downloaded a few free FX but they are very limited. At this newbie stage I do not want to spend any more money than I have to !! Many thanks, Brian

Can you be more specific about what effects you're after? There are too many effects that come with Reaper to start explaining what they all are.

FX? Like... Amp Sims?

Check here: https://guitarandbassplugins.com/quick-guides/great-freeware-ampsims-and-fx/

I've got the Ignite and TSE BOD 3 bass amp sims. They're pretty good. I think the TSE BOD 3 is supposed to be a SansAmp clone - looks like it, anyway. Sounds great.

Reaper doesn't have 'Guitar' centric effects - like the AmpSims you really have to go outside to third party apps to make it happen - now that
said you can take the Compressor Or Delay and set it up to work with guitars - but I don't think it would be to your liking - the best thing to do
is get a program like Helix Native and go to town.

Brian, to answer your actual question, before you start going all over the internet, there are a few guitar oriented built in effects in REAPER.

Watch this video. I actually suggest you watch as many of this guy's videos as possible. He even has a video on what order you should watch his videos in.

This one is about guitar effects in REAPER:

Very many thanks guys. You are really very helpful. I will especially watch the Kenny video - he is usually very good indeed. Brian

I downloaded the free blue cat amp sim advocated in a reaper tutorial.
works for my needs Should I need it to, to be fair. I mostly use the reaper effects Or convolution Files in reaVerbate or reaver.
search the net for free convolution and there’s lots of really good one, I particularly like the twin reverb IR I got for free.
Good luck and I hope your learning curve is fruitful.
