FW-1804 + Cubase SL3.0?

what is this?
I've got a little problem... I had a mic plugged into input 1 on the interface. Phantom power was on, and I plugged a processor into the insert jack. I think that I had the cable connected wrong to the processor, because when I tried to record, the recording would just stop at a certain point. Now, I think that the input is still acting up a little. Does this sound like a Cubase problem, or a Tascam problem? If it is the interface, is there anything I can check and try to fix?
 
I had a similar problem with my FW-1082 once (during a session after EXTENSIVE testing with no problems, of course). After disconnecting the firewire cable, re-booting everything, and reconnecting the cable it has worked fine since. I haven't been able to replicate the problem since. I did notice once that I need to have the FW-1082 turned ON before I boot my PC or I have syncronization problems, so that might be something else to try as well.
