Slowing becoming un-noob.
I'm looking for some pedals to get some really funky sounds. Filters seem like a good bet for funky sounds.

Anyone know of any good ones?
Budget is anything $200 and under. Yes, $200 is the absolute max. Considering I just bought a $180 boutique fuzz pedal...Which TOTALLY kicks ass by the way. (Dwarfcraft Devices Shiva)

Doesn't have to be a filter though. Anything that has some good funky sounds that I can get out of it. The funkier the merrier :D

Thanks guys.

Ring modulators will give you some really bizarre sounds. I think there are a couple out there for under $200.

Ring Modulators? Awesome, I'll check them out. Thanks.

I have two loops in my pedalboard, the first is for 'straight ahead tone' and the second is for psychotic shit from another planet.

The second loop is...

Catalinbread Ottava Magus Ring Multiplier (fancy name for an octave fuzz. It would sound very different from your other fuzz, though. I don't think there's any pedal quite like it).

Moogerfooger Ring Modulator (the most insane pedal ever. atonal, arbitrary, unpredictable).

There are a bunch of other strange pedals out there that I would consider looking into. Mid-Fi Electronics has a couple of interesting pedals. The Clari(not) seems to be the most interesting. But the glitch computer and the random number generator look brilliant as well.

Also, out of your price range, but you might consider having a look at Metasonixx, which is probably the most insane shit you've ever seen. Their pedals are named "scrotum smasher" and "butt reamer" and things like that. They have knobs that are labeled "REAM YER ASS" and stuff like that. Very cool.

The best place, in my opinion, to look for off-the-wall boutique pedals is proguitarshop.com. They also have great reviews. Check out the Ottava Magus and the Clari(not).

And congratulations on getting weird. We need more weird.

Congrats? haha. Thanks I suppose. I just want some wicked sounds.
Those metasonixx just look ridiculous...
And also the octave fuzz thingy you mentioned...sounds cool, but I really don't need another fuzz. If I'm going to buy something new, I want it to be new. Know what I mean? The Shiva can get a pretty nasty octave fuzz, and with the starve function enabled I can get a relatively close to that pedal.
The Mid-fi pitch pirate on the other hand...looks badass...apparently they are hard to find though.. Hmm...and expensive...hm.
Thanks for the suggestion.
When you say funky, I assume based on you fuzz choice, you mean "different", and not funk like P-Funk.

EH Micro Synth. Seems cool. I want one. I am sure eBay can be had for $200 or less.

What do you mean by p-funk?
I just want some cool sounds. Like envelope filters I definitely consider funky...

But yeah. I saw the micro synth, seemed sort of cool, but meh. I want more filteryish type sounds, or some...yeah.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

At the $200 budget the MoogerFooger MF-101 Lowpass Filter is the best "funky" option.

For about double the budget you could check out the Zvex Seek-Wah or Seek-Trem.

Teese Wah's will take you to Funkytown too.

Also check out the FoxRox Octave Divider and the Paradox Flanger.

The original Morley Flanger from the late 70's/early 80's is a great filter too. It has two modes, one where you can manually sweep the filter and the other mode controls the modulation speed. It does some really cool hollow-metallic sounding sweeps.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll definitely look into those.

well, since you're just talking about "funky" as in "different" and not funk the music style, and since you haven't really provided a list of what you already have and consider "not funky"...

i am currently in the process of obtaining (after playing) several Danelectro pedals from the "mini" series (yes, they're cheap).

I played the "tuna melt" tremolo - that can be funky, more control than the subtle built-in tremolo on your SCXD.

I also test-drove the "chicken salad" vibrato - again, very cool sounds, could be a special-effect occasionally or just a cool tone if used more subtly. again, more control and cooler sound than on SCXD.

I am also getting a compressor, but that's more sustain/attack affecting, not really "funky", but i guess that depends on how you set it too.

tremolo is my favorite effect now (and reverb i consider a part of main sound, not an effect, unless it's the deep surfy reverb). i like tremolo so subtle that you can't almost tell it's there, but it gives a cool sheen to the sound.

but depending on what you play a bit of analog delay (echo) can be cool too. but really, that's more "greasy" than "funky"

Whoa whoa whoa. Please tell me that English is your second language, and that you are from a suburb of Novosibirsk, Siberia's largest city. That's about the only thing that would explain it.:confused::confused:

Your looking for filter sounds and you DON'T want a EH Micro-Synth? That's all it is - you can blend suboctaves, upper-octaves and blend the normal signal in, set the levels of square wave, the sweep points, the rate, whether it's going to sweep up or down.

The bassballs is a pretty good filter as well, really unique.

If you can get your hands on an infinitphase by prophecy soundsystems you can get good phase sounds out of it - plus - faux ring mod + distortion.

Anyway, g'luck... It sounds like just a straight ahead wah-wah pedal would be your best bet. Vox makes some nice ones with pots - I'm not a big fan of that optical stuff morley makes.
