bollocks redux!
This is kind of feeler post-- I've had this up on another board for about a week and have received some great offers. I gave this a thorough testing out a few nights ago when it looked like I had a good deal in place and it sounded awesome, so I'm increasingly ambivalent about dealing it, but I figured I would advertise it a little more broadly and see what pops up. Either way I'll make a decision about taking a deal or taking it off the market within a few days.
I got this in a trade from the tech who made it about 4 months ago. It sounds awesome, but I'm just looking to downsize/rightsize my rig a little bit. I'm not in any sort of crazy rush to get rid of this by any means and wouldn't mind keeping it at all, I'm just curious to see what kind of interest people might have as I retool my setup. Also I basically record vocals, guitars, and keyboards and mix ITB. This is kind of a luxury for me.
Not as pretty as a UA/Urei or a Purple for sure, but this works and sounds great. Here's the builder's description of the construction (in italics):
"Mechanically, the layout is all Gyraf. I used all the same switches and knobs and layout that he recomended. So this is indentical to his website.
I used MNAT's PCBs on this 1176. They are basically Jacobs (Gyraf's) PCB, but all the traces are cleaned up and look pretty. Schematically identical, but it also allows for the choice of input transfomer or electronic balancing right on the pcb. Gyraf's you had to mount the Transformers in the case and run jumpers to it. When you see the inside of this unit, you will be very happy. It is very tidy. I used the best toridal power transfomer to isolate all AC noise. The components are on par or better than what was used in the orignal. I used OEP transfomers because they just sound freakn' good. They are not super expensive, but even at double the cost, I would have used them. (Gyraf used to recomend Lundahl's, but they are a little Hi-fi sounding. The OEP's sound like an old transformer should. I used a very high quality API Vu meter. This is transformer balanced in and out so the jacks are TRS balanced."
Oh yeah-- no "all button in" mode.
Looking for things like "boutique" low watt tube combos, really nice mics, or 500 series stuff. Feel free to make cash offers as well if you're interested.
