Hi all,
I'm selling a Tascam MS-16 1" 16-track analog tape machine, along with remote, MRL alignment tape, 3 patchbays, enough wiring for a small studio, some test equipment (oscilloscope, analog voltmeter, and a signal generator), and other cleaning/tape splicing accessories.
Everything is in good working order. The heads do have some wear on them, but there should be plenty of life left. It's been professionally aligned for the new RMGI 911 tape, and sounds great with it. The only reason I'm selling is that I've accepted a job that requires me to move across the country, and I simply can't take this stuff with me.
Here are pictures of everything:

Details of what's included-
Tape Machine:
- Tascam MS-16, mounted in the CS-65 roll-around stand
- 2 x Tascam DX-80S noise reduction units (16 channels total, mounted in the stand)
- Remote/Auto-locator (AQ-45c), come with it's own stand
- Complete manual in great condition
- 1", 15 ips MRL tape for the machine
Wiring:
- 2 x Switchcraft 96-point patchbays, fully wired
- 1 x Conquest USA MPS 1000 48-point TRS PB, 1/4" TRS connections front and back.
- 16 F-XLR to male RCA adaptors, to go in the RCA inputs of the MS-16 if you want.
(The cabling included is enough to interface the tape machine, a console, 2-track mixdown deck, the 1/4" TRS patchbay, and two short racks of outboard. Cabling connects to the back of the bay via EDAC connectors, and full documentation on the wiring scheme is included, making hookup and reconfigurations easy.)
Test Equipment:
- Telequipment Type D54 oscilloscope (no probes)
- Leader LAG-120 signal generator
- HP 400EL AC Voltmeter (includes power cable, the old 3-pin HP type that's hard to find)
- 500g and 5kg spring scales
Keepin' it running:
- 1 bottle of head cleaning fluid
- 1 x Zomm Sprout motor lubrication oil
- lint-free wipes and swabs
Accessories:
- 2 x empty 1" reels (Ampex and RMG)
- 1 x empty plastic reel case for 1" tape (Ampex)
- 1" splicing tape (tabs and a roll)
- 1" timing/leader tape (1000')
- wax pencils
- razor blades
This is located in the Boston, MA, USA area. Pickup only. I'm asking $2700 for the whole enchilada; the wiring alone is worth a good chunk of that. And I do need to sell it fairly quickly, so I'm a little flexible. Email, PM, or post if you have questions. Thanks!
