alright, here's the deal...i picked up a pair of NT-2A's a while back, thinking it would be nice to have a pair of LDC's for OH's or whatever else i would need to record in stereo

now it turns out that i'm not using these as a pair all that often and need another LDC for vocals, so i'd be willing to do any of the following:

$750 for the matched pair(consecutive serial #'s, 0009278/0009279)

$350 for one of the mics

OR...a trade involving a decent preamp or LDC

the mics are in perfect condition - only a few months old, used a handful of times for OH's, vocals, and acoustic guitars...each mic still has all of the original packaging, down to the plastic bag and silica packet, along with the pouch, screw-on clip, etc.

and for those who care to know, shipping will be from CA

i can be contacted either through PM's on this site, or by email @ ironklad.audio@yahoo.com

Why is it the price of both mics together more than twice as much as the price of one alone?

I was wondering the same thing......maybe its a typo....

a truely matched pair costs more than just two randomly selected mics. it requires time and effort to match a pair of mics.

True...but why sell them to 2 seperate people for a total of $700 but the price is $750 if the same person buys both?

Because he's not. He'll sell the pair together, OR he'll sell one mic and keep the other one. Either that or he never passed Math 101... :D

like travis said, matched pairs have more value than 2 random mics of the same model...check out any gear retailer, and you'll see that having a matched pair adds roughly 15-20% to the value of the mic

in all actuality, i only want to sell one of them, but i have that little bit of residual guilt going on over breaking up a matched pair...so if someone happens to want both, they can have em, and i'll just get another one :)

i had no idea - i've never stepped foot in a guitar center

i'm going off of musician's friend/sweetwater/everywhere else i've seen pricing, which is $400

And just because they have consecutive serial numbers doesn't make them a matched pair.

Have they been analyzed for the same frequency response?

not to my knowledge...but many(many) manufacturers consider mics with consecutive serials to be matched pairs

such is the case with the pair of NT5's that i have
