I have two pairs of Sennheiser "Black Fire" BF 541
microphones (XLR version) for sale. These have exactly
the same capsule, construction and sound as the
MD 441, but:
1. They're completely black.
2. There's no bass roll-off switch (they still have the
"brilliance" switch though).

Some info and spec at Michael Hartkopf's microphone
database:
http://members.aol.com/mihartkopf/senn_md.htm#MD_441
A google groups search on "sennheiser 541" will give
more info.

The 1st pair have consecutive serials, the 2nd have
close ones. They have some external signs of wear and a
few barely visible dents in the grills, but are in good
condition (very clean inside, the shockmounts really
springy, the foam still looks like new).
They've been used in a smoke-free studio, stored and
treated with care , sound great (no high or low end loss),
and work well as stereo pairs.

$500 / £300 for the 1st pair (includes 2 clips),
$470/ £280 for the 2nd (no clips) plus shipping
($25 to US, £7 to UK).

Offers are welcome. I may split them if people don't
need the pairs, though it would be a pity.

See attached pic of 1st pair. For further info, PM me or email:

mjh@ickey.freeserve.co.uk

thanks

Shit, man.
Mine is a Blackfire too, very rare indeed, and I got mine for $250.
I want one badly, but I cant buy a pair.
Let me know if you want to part with a single.
Heres your chance guys, jump on it while it lasts.

SHIT this is tempting but i should be saving for school. I'm in Canada is that a problem? And these are as good as the silver ones?

Hi :)
anyone who wants to split a pair, email me:
mjh@ickey.freeserve.co.uk
I actually have these two pairs, one pair I'm definitely keeping,
and two single ones that I'm undecided whether to sell or
not (I still like and use them all a lot, especially for certain voices
and nylon or steel string acoustic).

tubedude, it may sound a long-shot but if you give me the
serial of your 541, one of the ones for sale may be a least in
the same production year. I've played around with these in
various stereo combinations, and the ones from different years
don't seem to match so well (or at least I *think* I can hear
a difference, it's pretty slight :D)

Some more info:
They're the same as the 441, I have a 1991 Senn catalogue
which shows identical frequency response and polar pattern charts for the 441 and 541. They just don't have the bass rolloff
switch. The blackfire series seem to have been made for live
use, some have claimed they were all black to combat flare on
TV shows (who knows?). But they're the same construction,
capsule and sound as the 441. And they sound very nice, very
even response without a hyped top end, very natural-sounding
and for acoustic instruments.

Where are you at? I might be interested in a pair.

gyro,

I'd like to purchase one if you'd like to sell it to me.

Thanks,

You're literally 8 years too late, bud. Check the date on the thread/posts.

What you have to do is to start your own thread here with the title reading *what to purchase pair of sennheiser bla-bla-bla* And you more apt to get a reply!

Instead of resurrecting an old thread of sennheiser microphones. ;)
