So i got some REALLY NICE/REALISTIC samples of brass instruments, a ton of them. They are real long, like 5 seconds each... (just one note, held for about 5 seconds). Is there any way I can just cut this with the piano roll? for now, if i use the piano roll it just plays the sample, and changes the pitch/length ONLY based on what note I select - NOT based on how long I tell it to play (quarter note vs. a whole note = no difference!)...

is my only option to CUT the sample myself before using it?

Right click on the sampler channel, and select "cut itself" or go to the MISC channel properties, and select cut by.

If your samples are pretty long, you'll need to add a note when you want your sample to cut, and give it a zero velocity.

I know this is less than ideal, but unless you want to build a soundfont or bank for another sample, this seems to me like your only option.

Where'd you get your samples? I've been searching for horn samples for a bit now

there's no place where you can play with decay and sustain???

yeah...on the chanel window click on one of those tabs..i think the one that says VOL, and there you can play with th decay and sustain.

Yes you can make your own soundfonts, with Vienna Soundfont Studio (something like that). You used to have to have a creative card installed, but I don't think thats the case anymore.

Do you have a soft sampler- VSampler, Kontakt, HALion? I imagine there are some free ones at KVR. You might be able to build a bank for one..

I have IM, I'll try to catch you sometime. Do you have a URL for the samples?
