Well, I'm pretty much a 4/4 rock guitar player, so a while back I was searching on the net to learn some fingerpicking blues type stuff. I found this great site, and learned a couple of riffs - and of course immediately wanted to record it so I made this little instrumental... It's called Galactic Swamp...

If you listen, please leave at least a brief comment, any details about the recording provided if you want.

Cheers!

Very nice recording IMO. Good guitar tone too. Not much to add, I like everything here. Very pro sounding to me.

I like the song - always like a good instrumental.
The production is super slick - maybe too slick.
I would have preferred an organ setting as opposed to the string synths.
Everything is mixed beautifully.
Nice job.

Ok listened twice.

I really liked the intro guitar line except for the C# minor at :19. Did you try C# Major? With the progression you've got going I realize you're probably looking for tension at that point, but C#minor sounds almost anti-climactic there to me.

I like other guitars too. Nice moods.
But I was craving a warmer synth behind the guitars. It sounds a bit digital to me. Do you have maybe a warmer pad you could try? Something to act as more of a back-drop to the nice guitar work.

Pretty cool mood to this with some nice guitar.

Organ

Thanks! Organ you say eh? Hmm, I had a B-3 organ sound ready to go and was deliberating whether to use it or the synths.

You think I should replace the background pad synth, or the lead line synth with organ? I might do another mix with organ now you mention it.

This is why I need feedback, thanks again!

I thought the minor chord gave it more of a laid back feel, I'll try a major and see. The pad is an old Juno 106, definately not digital! I think I'll try a warmer pad and a B3 organ doing the lead lines, that's my opinion so far! Might just be too much "synth sizzle" in this...

i'm not sure it was an organ i was personally imagining, though it might work. i was hearing something more airy, subtle, warmer...
But i don't know what you have at your disposal either...

sounds

Well, between hardware gear, stacks of sample cds, and menus full of vst instruments, I have way too many sounds at my disposal! :D The question is, should it be a slick movie soundtrack type thing, or a more "real" sounding guitar/organ bluesy thing. I like mixing different elements kind of, that's the fun of all this, the possiblilities are endless. Keep talking, have to build up my posts to qualify for the compilation thing! Haha!

The 'synth sizzle' is kinda amusing I think. But probably that sentiment is not what you're looking for... :D

Well recorded & performed. Got nothing else to add, I'm sorry :)

i'm a little biased because i'll take the simplest little melody and go to hollywood with it. But ya, i was hearing more of a warm movie type pad to it.

ummmm holy shiznit!

I really like this! I know what they mean about the synth, not bad, but I think they all nailed it on the head.

Sweet tune man, I'll be humming this one at work tomorrow for sure. :)

So you like shenker eh? I grew up listening to him, he's still god-like. ;)

Nice groove. good sound and pickin on the guitar. you can manipulate this one and take it in several different avenues. you could pull off some serious back tracks on the bass, drums and piano or whatever from here, even vocals.
