i appreciate it thanks !

Yes. In fact I just did this a while ago while I was getting my 424 ready for sale. How you do it depends if you want to just have a stereo mix on the computer or to move each track separately to he computer. Either way you would want to hook your line out of your 424 to the line in of the soundcard. Which connectors you need depends on your soundcard. I assume you have a soundcard that has a 1/8” stereo plug on it and if I remember correctly the outs on the 424 are rca plugs (l & r). If that’s the case you need a cable that has two rca males to a 1/8” stereo male, or you could find an adapter at Radio Shack.

If you are just sending a stereo mix to the computer, it is as simple as pushing record on your recording software and play on your 424.

If you want to send each track separately you can probably send two at a time one panned hard left, the other hard right on the 424 and record each track to its own track in your computer recording software. The problem is that when you import the third track, you will probably need to spend some time lining all the tracks up in your recording software.

Or there are probably possibilities for striping the fourth track with a SMPTE signal and sync the tape up with your recording software if it will do it. I used to do that back with Cakewalk 3 a long time ago, but I’m would guess that is beyond where we need to go with his and I’m sure I couldn’t help you do it without being “hands on” anyway since it’s been so long.

Hopefully I didn’t hurt more than I helped. :D

I don't know anything about Cool Edit, but I'm sure it would work for this.
