The hard drive in my MR8-HD got extremely overheated (please don't ask ... it's really dumb). It still works but only when it wants to. It doesn't always finish booting. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to replace it. Someone said I can remove it, take it to a computer store and find a replacement. Has anyone done this? What needs to be done to re-install it? Would really appreciate any input.

I remember something on the internet about replacing the HD on the Fostex machines, and thinking it seemed pretty straight forward, try a search.

The internal HD for the MR8 are:-
Maxtor 40GB DiamondMax 14 6K040L 2MB/7200
Maxtor 40GB DiamondMax Plus 8 6E040L 2MB/7200

You need !.27 or better operating system
