Hi Folks,
I have been working on a project for a friend. French language, gospel, kind of countryish - have a listen. The vocal is not Celine Dion by far however I am more interested in hearing crits about the mix. I tracked everything other than the Telecaster and BGvox myself using a Mackie 1604, Sonar 6 Pro, MOTU 2408 and a few $150 mics.

Thanks

How fun is this. I love the French language and gospel sooo.... :)

Although I've just started treating my room today I will comment.

I like the mix generally, the lead vocal though seems to be too soft IMO.

Maybe just bring it up a bit and it seems a bit too dry, but I like a bit more fx when voices are not the greatest. Actually, maybe a bit more depth and volume are needed on the vocals.

Let's hear what others have to say.

Country, rock, blues, almost cajun.. good stuff. 'Course I didn't understand a word.. no need. Lead vocal needs to be a bit louder, background vocals need to go further into the background. Drums need to go to the back a little, too. I thought the drums were too spread out, that's just a personal preference thing. The guitar lead part needs to come up a bit. Had to listen real close to make it out. Everything was clear, if it was loud enough. Just another personal preference, but.. the whole song is really busy. So much stuff going on. That makes the whole thing quite full sounding, sure. But, IMHO, just a bit too much going on.
