free nuendo?

A guy was in my studio and left me a disc of nuendo. He said it was free? I popped it in an old computer ans sure it does work. It says at startup "H2O, try before you buy" Does anyone know what this is? I did not think nuendo had free demos. Cracked copy Im thinking.
 
funny thing is the entire program opens with this h2o, try before you buy. Its not like written on the disc. It 'LOOKS' to be ligit...but
 
The H2O guys are geniuses at that stuff...love em or hate em, they know their stuff.

It is a cracked copy though, although they at least in theory do support buying it if you like it.

Yeah ,your right. I do wish these companys would have more/better ways to check out there software before I buy it. Nuendo is almost 2k! For that kind of scratch, I'd like to have a clue to what I'm getting into.
 
Unless you do video or 7.1 surround, Cubase is the exact same thing for about $600
 
not sure if any firepod users are on yet...Ill make a sticky of hardware. Please post somewhere on the reaper forum if the firepod works well or not

Agreed. It is the way to go for video though, Cubase gave me big as troubles with syncing to a WMV. When I tried nuendo at school it just set everything itself (framerate, framedrop etc.). Other than that, I'd go for Cubase, SL even if needed.
 
If you search around you can get cubase sx for quite a bit less than $600, especially if you're a student.

well neither is reaper or cubase...

im trying to suggest the guy a good program that isnt expensive so he doesnt feel like he needs to use cracked wares.. not that it is ever justified...

Some people dont know what all is out there, so I try to make suggestions when appropriate.

For the same reason I hate hippies and techno kids. They are all stages of evolution that shouldve been skipped over. I like beating hippies with tire irons though!
