The guy at my local music shop has a mic he cant ID, and hes just going to give it to me. The brand is Realistic. It is a pencil condenser and seems to take a AA or AAA size battery. The cable is non-detachable with a 1/4" end on it. The whole thing is contained in a machined metal tube with an on/off switch. Anyone know anything about these? and also what do all you think of the AKG D11 kick mic? i need a cheap kick mic and it seems to me that it cant be all that bad for the money.

realistic is radio shack brand, and everything i've owned by them has been terrible.

I have a radio shack mic that I got for free. No complaints here.

lol I had a realistic lapel, it was awful, got tons of noise and the sound wan't any good to begin with.

I've got a realistic, somewhat old (80's? 70's?). Just a Shure with a diffrent name.

Realistic is hit or miss, mostly miss though. Once in a while they'd have someone build their stuff and do a decent job, if it's made in Japan, that's good news.

free is free.... im thinking about just using that and a tape recorder to go screw around and record random stuff around town.... maybe take a drumstick out and bang on stuff and use it for samples. who knows i may be able to find some use for it.
