My g/f works for a tow company. This '66 Harmony archtop was left in an impounded car. It was in the car for a couple months, exposed to the desert heat. The top and back had seperated in several places. After a couple weeks in the humidifier it found its shape again. I glued it back together, touched up the finish, and now she's pretty again. The guitar appeared to be unplayed. There wasn't a mark on it other than where it had come apart. She can bring guitars home anytime.

I think you might have paid too much. That guy looks fantastic. Maybe you did get your moneys worth.

I don't get it.

You are giving it away for free.

I'll take it
PM sent with shipping info.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

JCH, could you determine if that is a solid carved top or just laminated?
I was gonna say it looks like a early 60s model but you already had it
down as a 66. She sure looks pretty.

Thanks for the compliments. This was an easier repair than I anticipated when I first saw the guitar. I saved as much of the original finish as i could. It's a shame that it was exposed to the elements like it was, but if it wasn't it would have never fallen into my lap.

After a proper setup it plays, and sounds OK. It sounds very similar to my other archtop ('57 National), but the tone is nothing to rave about. My Martin puts 'em both to shame.

The top's solid maple. I didn't notice all the birdseyes 'till I polished it.

Damn, I was wonderin' where I left that guitar. Glad you found it. I'll email you my address so you can get it back to me. I'll even foot the tab for postage.
Send your address. The postage is 500 bucks.

Nice axe, but why is it hanging sideways?
I exist in a perpendicular dimension.

That was an experimental phase that Harmony went through, it is called the anti-gravity guitar. They tended to float freely into the sunset, probably why the owner had it captured in that car~

hmmm....impounded car...never been played guitar...with no case.

i bet its stolen.

Wow... sour grapes  The car , and the contents were cleared through a lien. The owner had the option to get it out of the car, and the police didn't seem to think it was stolen. The guitar was pretty severly damaged. I took the time, and effort to restore what most people would consider worthless.. I resent the remark.

Dude, WTF are you doing with my Archtop?

I need you to give me your address so I can come pick my baby up! And since I'm there I might as well go on a 42 hour drinking and gambling binge.

To be honest, I thought the same thing at first. But then I figured if you were smart enough to restore it, you were smart enough to have obtained it through proper channels.
