I tried it out.

Not a bad freebie. My initial reaction is that it sounds better than the Dreamstation Dxi bundled with Sonar.

I also think it sound good.
But with dreamstation, tassman le and now this triangle synth I'm kind of saturated in the bleeps bloops and blips department.
Strictly a matter of personal preference I guess I lean more to the natural sounds.
I love my gigasampler and I wish they could make that in a dxi format.
Aside from what cakewalk gives free or includes in their software a softsynth is really gonna have to blow me away for me to spend money on it.

LMAO@bleebs and bloops....i'm wit u acid rock

Agreed, acidrock!

As I'm mostly into rock, these synths are more or less useless. But every free download from Cakewalk, is a GOOD download...:D

this DXI gotta few pretty rockin sub basses...i'm impressed, but other then that ain't much their

Please help me out here guys. This is a really dumb question but I plead ignorance on all synth matters.

I downloaded the program and can see it as an fx in Sonar audio (not midi) tracks. But how do I get it to sound? Can I use it with virtual piano? I don't have a keyboard, but can I use my qwerty k/b just as a test?

Regards

Paul

^paul you need to set the patch you want from the fx program on an audio track...then on a MIDI track you need to patch the output to the program you used on your audio track...hope it makes sense...i use my old korg as a controller so i'm not sure how to set it up usin your qwerty keys...good luck

Paul either go to your piano roll view and insert some notes manually with your mouse or assign the synth to a sample midi track.
You can get some cheap midi cotrollers that work off usb or perhaps a used keyboard from a pawn shop or a second hand store.
Even if you're primarily a guitar player you can knock off some cool background stuff with these synths.Hey if you got'em you might as well use'em.

GOOD LUCK!

Hey, Acid rock, did it, sounds great but I use win 98 so there is a little bit of latency, but not too much. It is certainly usable.

I get XL next month so I'll be really rocking then.

And it works with Virtual Piano too.

A second hand k/board or a new Midi controller (Evolution MK361) is on my Fathers Day wish list!!!

Thanks again for the help.

I got 98 too.I can get the 2000 upgrade for $99 and I've been thinking about it to get rid of that damn latency.

I hadn't considered 2000, at that price maybe I will. But reports of sonar & XL are excellent.

After playing with this thing I'm really warming up to it .My problem is I can't get the pitch/mod wheel to work with it,anybody got some input?
