Well a couple years ago I worked at a pawnshop specialized in music instruments... And at one time I was cleaning the backstore, which contains mostly broken stuff, and I bought a load of broken microphones and cables (we didnt sell cables, so I got myself some monster for peanuts!), mostly for parts but also in the hopes I could repair some...

And fast forward to yesterday, I was taking a look around to rebuild an XLR cable, and I just started to look around to see what microphones I ended up with... And there's this Gefell m295!!!! It looks marvelous... The cap is held by some of the smallest screws I've ever seen...

But yeah, it seems like it's broken... I opened it up and took a look a the circuitry, which seems alright. After a while I got some sound out of it but it sounds really distant and unclear. My guess is that the diaphragm is probably broken...

Anybody got an idea how much it would cost to repair, or if there is something to do with this marvelous but broken mic?

If I were you...I wouldnt even bother with it....I would just give it to me and let me deal with the time and trouble of getting it repaired....if you decide to go this route...let me know and Ill be happy to PM you my address...

Hum... well that sounds easy but not all that honest ;) Thanks anyway

Just send it in to Gefell. Their repair prices are quite reasonable and you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you have a 100% functional high dollar mic when they're done.

(this is the same advice you'll get on Prosoundweb, pretty much)

Good luck, and congratulations on the find!

Hmmm... yeah I guess I should have figured that this would be the way to go with such a piece of equipment...

Thanks a lot!
