There are several factors to consider when buying a keyboard synth - sound quality, feel (weighted, touch sensitive, after touch, etc), MIDI applications, on board F/X, sequencing, etc. etc.
If you are a novice keyboard player and simply want some basic pad sounds, a $120 Rat Shack may do. If you wnat/need realistic accoustic sounds (piano, organ, etc) a $120 likely won't do it. In particular, piano sounds depend on touch response (which I suspect a $120 box won't have.
I sugeest you try a few keyboards (including some that are likely out of your cost range) just to get some idea what the sounds, feel and features can and can't do. If you then decide the Rat Shack will do the job, so be it - however, if you then decide the Rat Shack will force too many compromises, perhaps you are better off waiting until you can afford soumething better.
I personally doubt that a $120 keyboard will provide the sounds and feel that someone needs for decent recorded sounds, however,m it probably has beeter sounds than the 1st keyboard I bought (about 30 years ago)
a Juno 6 that ran about $1200.
