Hi -
I have a Fostex X-15 that I'm using with an MN -15 compressor. I want to record multiple mics (i.e three on a drum kit) through to a single track without ping ponging - I was going to do this by running them trough a 4+ channel analog mixer, and purchased one only to find it was a piece of junk that didn't work. I've just sent it back and am now trawling the net for something else to use. I was thinking - sonically, i'm happy with the Fostex mixer/compressor. Is an additional mixer a) overkill b)a waste of money and c) introducing something unnecessary to the recording chain? Would I be able to use a preamp instead (as the mics are going to need power) to record multiple mics to one track?
Thanks, Dan.
