I'm setting up my project studio. I have a Pentinum 4 with Digi 001 installed along with a Akai MPC 2000 and a Trinity keyboard. I need a mixer. Is this the one for me? A friend told me that I can use it as a controller for Pro Tool Le as well as a mixer to monitor all my gear. It sounds good to me especially since Sam Ash has the mixer at a drop from $1500 to $500.

Anybody got any 411 on this unit. Is it any good? Is it a long learning curve on it? Being I new to this and is still trying to learn this midi spit. What the deal?

ummm....it's not a great mixer. fostex sent one to my studio last year to see if i wanted it. it sounded very very cold. i didn't like it at all. i dont like the business between all the fader pages either. but it's just the preamps which i didn't like that much. the display isn't all the great, and the effects aren't good either, allthough i dont know if you plan to use those. the automation worked well though and it's handy for use with pro tools. i didn't try it with the ADAT INS, may sound a little better, bypassing the analogue pre's.

for $500, cant go wrong though. that's not much for that mixer.
