I currently own a Fostex vF08 multitrack recorder. I went to use it about a week ago but when I turn on the console the screen backlight turns on but no words appear. Any suggestions as to what might be the problem?

Did you try adjusting the screen contrast? Might as well start with the obvious...

yea i checked that with no luck, any other ideas?
No, sorry... I'd contact Fostex and let them know you have that problem. It might be a bad display or it could be something else.
Contact Fostex, and if they can't help you, I'd take it back and get a replacement...

If this unit is newish, that's bad luck.
But any hard disk recorder will suffer from disk death eventually.
Back up you work as you go, or lose hours of effort:
backup, backup, backup.

Did I mention the importance of backing up?

Many talk about backing up, but does anybody actually do it? I've posted a couple of questions in the last several months asking about how people are backing up, and gotten a total lack of response.

I back up (occasionally) to my external CDR (my vf08 doesn't have an internal one), but it takes quite a while and doesn't always work when I try to reload the program.

This probably should be a separate thread, but are there better ways?
