Has anyone tried these monitors? I have just bought a Darla 24 audio card and need some near-field monitors to run through. I like this price range, but is it a waste? Even though headphones are a no-no to mix with, would a good set be better than low end monitors? Thanks...

I just traded mine in today. Having said that; it wasn't that I didn't like them, they just simply have thier limitations. At 5w per speaker they just aren't real loud. I found that if I was spending more than about 10-15 min. per mixing session, I was yearning for more volume. Mainly I wanted more clarity on the drums in particular (being a drummer)and felt like I needed more volume to get an accurate reference.

For the money however, I think they do an excellent job. I bit the bullet and spent and additional $350 (on top of the original $200) to upgrade. It's a matter of economics. I sold my lights and a pair of practice P.A. speakers to offset the expense, but I know I'll spend MANY hours in front of those speakers and well...it's like pulling a band-aid off, it'll only sting for a while. Best wishes.

Thanks for the reply. I actually went to Sam Ash and listened to them and wasn't very impressed. I ended up buying the Roland MA-12cp speakers ($209) and really like them. They are perfect for what I need to mix (strictly acoustic guitars) Not everyone is mixing for a full band.
