Fostex multitracker XR-7

Hi kind folk,

so, this is what I bought awhile back, haven't used it much. I now want to build a pc studio using cool edit pro.

First off, what can someone tell me about my machine? Is it old, awesome, a piece o'crap? Next, can it be used as a multitracker or as the way to plug the guitar and mic into the computer in conjunction with the pc set-up? Should I just sell it and use the money for a new sound card or some other link in the chain or is it worth holding onto?

The XR-7 is a cassette-based recorder, which is pretty much stone-age. The MR-8 is a cheap digital recorder that will let you record tracks and copy them onto your PC for editting/mixing in CEP. With your XR-7 you'd have to play back your tracks while recording them through your sound card inputs - not the best way to go.
