Hi bought aone of these a while back but I am having big problems converting my files via USB to the PC for burning. I have followed the manual meticulously and managed to have the 2 mix wav files shown on screen but when I try and drag and drop the files my PC tells me this drive (F) is not accessible as the parameter is incorrect! I am using Win XP Pro and it should work, I am also using ethernet on my USB if this has any effect. I have emailled Fostex and they haven't replied yet but I was hoping one of you guys or gals out there could point me in the right direction. PLEASE!!!! Email me at gary.pennington@ntlworld.com direct if you know, it would be a great help!

Been looking further and seems XP Pro C: drive has NTFS drive partition and won't comprehend FAT32 unless I convert. Is it safe to convert the fostex MR8hd to NTFS? Will it let me? Don't want to do it unless its okay due to any poss implications please I need your help!!!!!!!

Go to Fostex site. They have an 8 track and 16 track Wav Transporter.
When you plug your MR8 into USB of your comp, launch the Wav Transport program and you'll see your individual tracks.

DO NOT format to NTFS on the MR8. Leave the file structure as it is or you'll regret the results.

Go to fostexusa dot com and go to the support page you'll see the sofware link.

Good luck.

PS I'm running both XP Pro and Vista and have no issues with that program.

It is actually called WAVManager - download from fostex site (support - software downloads). Put your MR8HD in USB Device Mode, then start WAVManager, and it should display a box indicating the drive letter used by the MR8HD and let you select from the songs on it.

I am also using ethernet on my USB if this has any effect.

ummm....

what the hell does that mean?

Several people have had these problems. I've used the fostex mr-8 and mr-8 hd for years and all I do is this...

take the usb cable, plug it into the mr-8, plug the other end into the computer. turn the mr-8 on and go to usb mode. forget the shitty wave whatever program they have; just open her up like an external hard drive and drag ALL the files on to your computer to mix down.

Most likely the problem is your computer is screwy. The mr-8 is very simple, and usually it does what it's told.
