I know how to set the punch in A and B locations and understand the pre-rolls on each side when set for loop return. When I do a punch in I usually hit record and play at the same time. My question is: Once I get a good take of a part what is the next button I push to listen to it? Auto punch? Record button? The manual doesnt address this clearly.

Also, when I hit the record and play buttons I can't hear the other tracks playing until I hit the record button again and then I can hear them. Am I hitting these buttons in the wrong order? After I do that I can see the record button light up when I am supposed to do the punch in, it seems to work fine.

I need more practise at using this function, but wanted to throw it out there and see what others have experienced.

Thanks,

STOP: REWIND: and PLAY should clear the auto punch and playback the new track.

It is not clear, as you say!! STOP usually clears other operations. STOP + PLAY should play back between points A & B.
Because of the pathetic user manual, I usually try out the button pushes and see what happens!! Not the answer you were looking for.

Can I suggest you go to the Fostex USA site and then into the User Forum (under "support") and ask your question there.

Terfyn,
Thanks for you input. I am gonna go on back to my room now and work on the procedure with what you have wrote in mind. Thank you for your suggestion on the Fostex USA site. I will take your advice and try that too. I will let you know how it goes.
